Valentino Bags Supply Chain Exposed for Worker Abuse
Valentino Bags Srl is the fourth fashion company to be targeted by the Milan Court for labor issues since 2023.
Back in June 2024, Milan Court prosecutors identified workshops with underpaid workers that produced leather bags to Dior, Armani, and Italian handbag company Alviero Martini.
The Milan Court found evidence of exploited workers within the Chinese-owned firm in Italy that had been hired for production by Valentino Bags Lab Srl. The Court claimed Valentino to be “culpably failed” to oversee its suppliers in order to purse higher profits.
The court will now appoint an external administrator to verify the company meets the judges demands that it implement effective tools to control its supply chain.
Valentino provided a statement that it would cooperate with the authorities to better understand the proper measures. They stated they had intensified controls on suppliers over the last few years including “audits conducted by certified third parties covering the entire production process” and have led the company to ditch producers that did not meet its standards.
The administration can be lifted earlier if the Valentino unit brings its practices within legal requirements.
With Italy being the primary source for half of luxury fashion production, the country is cracking down on luxury fashion production processes.

Jonathan Anderson Named New Creative Director of Dior
In the next change of shifting luxury creative directors, Jonathan Anderson has been named the Creative Director of Dior.
He will be designing a total of 18 collections between 10 annual collections for Dior, 6 annual collections for his own brand JW Anderson, and 2 collections per year for a collaboration with Uniqlo.
According to Business of Fashion, this makes Anderson the most ‘prolific, multi-tasking designer since Karl Lagerfeld’.

Jonathan Anderson is previously coming from his Creative Director role with Loewe from 2013 - 2025. Prior, he had launched his own label JW Anderson in 2008.
The public won’t see his vision for Dior until October 1st, due to Dior skipping the haute couture shows in July.
