Simon Porte Jacquemus
Simon was born in 1990 in the small town of Salon-de-Provence, France to a family of poor rural farmers.
His father occasionally took gigs as a singer in metal rock bands, leaving his mother as the primary caretaker of Simon.
Simon’s relationship with his mother is the primary reason for the creation of the 'Jacquemus’ brand we know today.

2008 - (Paris, France)
At 18, Simon left for Paris and found employment as an artist manager’s assistant. This was his first and last job that he only had for a few months.
While working at the Comme Des Garcons store on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré - Adrian Joffe, the husband of the store’s founder, recognized Simon's authentic vision.
His early recognition led to further opportunities for his brand, allowing Simon to begin financing his own collections.

2009 - (Paris, France)
The sudden death of his mother motivated him to put everything into his namesake brand ‘Jacquemus’, his mother’s maiden name.
At 20 years old, Simon created the brand to honor his mother. Jacquemus the brand is a reflection of his love for his mother.

2010 - 2015
2010: To promote his designs, Simon would invite friends to wear his collections during Vogue’s Fashion Night Out in Paris.
2012: Simon was invited to present his collection at Paris Fashion Week.
2014: Simon was a finalist for the LMVH'S Prize for Young Designers.
2015: He received the LMVH Special Jury Prize.

2017 - 2018
2017: Jacquemus launched ‘Le Chiquito’, a line of micro handbags that were seen on celebrities like Bella Hadid, Kim Kardashian and Leonie Hanne.
This collection generated the tiny bag trend and became viral.
His collections were picked up by major retailers, including Selfridges and Net-A-Porter.
2018: He expanded his fashion house to include menswear, which was immediately embraced by the industry.

As for if Simon will ever leave his position as the creative mind behind Jacquemus to pursue other opportunities, the answer is this:
“5 years ago Anna Wintour asked if I wanted to work for a big house. I said I have a big house: It’s called ‘Jacquemus’.”

There’s nothing like a post from Jacquemus.
I’ll let it speak for itself:

Jacquemus marketing feels like a playful, theatrical world that creates dreamy emotions within it’s community.
From banana yellow stores to The White Lotus star Jon Gries banana feature - there’s usually a play on fruits, sunshine and beaches, or mind-bending videos.

From a young designer with a dream to honor his mother, Simon’s brand continues to be known as a successful fashion luxury house.
